Taking every opportunity to learn

Scott and Natasha Flaugher have an important letter for the Elsengs, and want to be sure it’s clear.

Scott and Natasha Flaugher along with their five children are living in a remote village while studying the culture and language of Elseng people.

Recently Scott accompanied a couple of Elseng friends harvesting sago. He has already learned the language and method used in harvesting the sago palm so if he can go along it is a great opportunity to practice the vocabulary as well as building relationships while taking a turn at chopping the sago from the tree.

Natasha often helps with the team medical clinic giving her a chance to study language and build relationships also.

Any activity with the people can be an opportunity to study culture and language. The children play with their tribal friends and seem to absorb the language. It isn’t that easy for their parents, who have to work really hard at it along with spending time with the people./p>

Scott and Natasha continue to work hard because the Elseng people need to hear the gospel. They are acutely aware that they have the message of life but need to understand the culture and language well enough to teach the chronological lessons that will bring that message.

Pray that Scott and Natasha will remain faithful and diligent as they study the Elseng culture and language.
