'Strength to live out His love'

Ministry in a new place requires a new portion of God's grace.

Michael and Nancy Dore and their family were welcomed recently to their new home in Senegal. And there are a lot of adjustments for them to make.

“We are getting used to the sounds of Africa—the call to prayer, the drums and music—as well as the sounds of a city.”  That would include sounds like traffic noise, beeping horns and a general “buzz” of lots of people.

It’s a challenge to move a family of six to a foreign country. The Dores are in Senegal for five to six months of French language study, an intensive season that will include balancing four hours a day of classroom study, hours of homework, dedicated efforts to build meaningful relationships in their community, homeschooling four children and somehow finding quality time just to be together as a family.

During this time of preparation, the Dore family would especially welcome your prayers.

There are specific things you can ask God to do in their lives. Pray for the children as they make new friends and go to Sunday School in a Senegalese church. Pray that the family will adjust to changes like warmer weather, mosquito nets and difficulty in communicating with people. Pray that God will bless them all with good health and with wisdom in their language studies.

And finally, “Pray that the Lord would give us strength and grace to live out His love through the stress and busy-ness,” the Dore family asks.
